TERMDAT, the terminology database of the Swiss Federal Administration
TERMDAT is the terminology database of the Swiss Federal Administration, run by the Terminology Section of the Swiss Federal Chancellery.TERMDAT contains Swiss legal and administrative terminology in the four official Swiss languages - German, French, Italian, and Romansh - and in English. The terms are recorded in thematic glossaries compiled in collaboration with experts from the Federal Administration or from the private sector.

TERMDAT on the Internet contains only verified entries and is intended for persons who do not have access to the full TERMDAT database on the IntranetThe terms, abbreviations, titles of legislation, the names of Swiss and international authorities, institutions and organisations as well as other information held in the database originate primarily from federal legislation and pertain to a wide variety of fields (education, energy, finance, commerce, industry, culture, agriculture, defence, environment, transport, economics, etc).
TERMDAT on the Internet, powered by Multicorpora, is optimised for use with Internet Explorer 7.0 and its terminological database is updated regularly.
TERMDAT on the Intranet
TERMDAT on the Intranet contains some 400,000 Swiss entries - either verified or being processed - produced by the Federal Administration and by the Cantons of Bern, Fribourg, Valais and Graubünden. Employees of public institutions (cantonal administrations, universities, research institutes, etc.) and private individuals who carry out work for the Federal Administration may apply for an SSL certificate that allows internet access to the entire database. In order to obtain a certificate, write to TERMDAT giving your surname, first name, official e-mail -address and, for private individuals, a contact person in the Federal Administration.The Terminology Section wishes you every success with your research.
